The 'Bandage' Dress

Every woman wants to look their best irrespective of age, shape & size. The important question is, how do one do so without trying too hard & still look good despite their various shapes & sizes? The rule of thumb is to acknowledge the type of body shape and dress accordingly. There are various forms ranging from triangle, inverted triangle, apple, rectangle & hourglass, which is the most sought after. By knowing the right shape, you are one step closer in choosing the right & suitable type of outfit for your body.

Which one best describes you? :)

Colours also play an important role in dressing. Black is classy and it provides a slimmer silhouette. Red is associated with a sexy & strong character. Blue represents the ocean & calmness. Pink is a girly colour and exudes sweetness. Green is associated with nature.

Over the years, the bandage dress has been making headlines & gaining popularity in the fashion world. What is a bandage dress? It is a tight fitting body-con dress that is made from multiple thin strips of clothing sewn together, with the individual strips shaped like bandages.
According to the Oxford dictionary, body-con denotes a very tight fitting style of clothing. Often this type of dress is flattering. The popularity of the bandage dress has increased tremendously over the years thanks to designer Herve Leger. He is well known for his iconic bandage dresses which eventually made him a household name today.

Herve Leger, the French fashion house was founded by designer Herve Peugnet currently known as Herve L. Leroux in 1985. He was born on 30th May 1957 at Bapaume (north of France). At the age of 20, he started work as a hairdresser and hatmaker. In 1984, Herve Peugnet met Karl Lagerfield and worked as his assistant at Fendi and then Chanel. Karl Lagerfield advised Peugnet to change his surname to Leger, since Peugnet might be too difficult to pronounce for his American target market at that time. Having lost the rights to the Herve Leger name, Peugnet took a third brand name as Herve L. Lecroux

Peugnet pioneered the creation of the so called bandage dress, that is made from materials associated with foundation garments with its signature bandage like strips. The objective behind the bandage dress is to help mould and shape the wearer's figure. In September 1998, Herve Leger was acquired by BCBG Max Azria Group from the Seagram's Group. In April 2007, Max Azria relaunched the Herve Leger brand under his own design direction with a capsule summer collection. Until today, the brand continues to inspire women all over the world with its trademark bandage dresses and beautiful silhouettes. I must admit that I'm a big fan of Herve Leger!

Art Of Time by Swiss Watch Gallery

Maison Swiss Watch Gallery presents Art Of Time, their 2nd installment for the year after Time Kulture in August. This exhibition of luxury timepieces was held at Pavilion Kuala Lumpur from the 2nd till 13th October with participating brands like Cartier, Tag Heuer, Tudor, Piaget, Graham, Ulysse Nardin, Vertu, IWC Schaffhausen, Zenith & Jaeger-LeCoultre. This event was in collaboration with BMW, The Star, Tourism Malaysia, The Edge, Glengrant, Sheraton Imperial Hotels, American Express & Zurich.

I must admit that their invitation cards are pretty unique and one of a kind.

Loving the creative design of the card

I was honoured to be invited to the event and managed to learn a thing or two about watches. We were greeted at the entrance by friendly personalities and made our way to the various exhibition booth. Of all the participating brands, my favourite is Cartier

Cartier was founded by Louis Francois Cartier in 1847 in Paris. The mystery clocks (a type of clock with a transparent dial and so named because its mechanism is hidden) is one of the most celebrated designs in the house of Cartier. Apart from this, Cartier is also well known for its fashionable wristwatches and exotic orientalist art deco designs including the Tutti Fruitti jewels. Tank, Ballon Bleu de Cartier, Baignoire, Pasha de Cartier, Santos de Cartier & Creative Jewelled watches are amongst the collection for women's watches. My favourite of them all has got to be the Tank Anglaise collection.

The various types from the Tank collections

Such a beauty!

The Tank watch was created in 1917 by Louis Cartier. The first prototype was presented as a gift to General Pershing some years ago before the watch was introduced into the market in 1919. The lugs blend seamlessly into the bare edges of the flat vertical brancards, giving the watch its unique aesthetic. The clean, crisp lines have proved hugely popular with a free-spirited, elegant clientele. The now iconic Tank has inspired countless variations, yet managed to preserve its distinctive identity. Guests were served with a variety of canapes, delicious desserts, wine & single malt scotch whiskey by Glengrant. We were amazed & mesmerised by the sounds of the jazz band for the night.

Loving the powerful vocals.

Guests were enjoying the wonderful performance of the band.

As a token of appreciation, guests were given a choice to choose either a money clipper or notebook with their names engraved on it. Thanks to Swiss Watch Gallery & BMW for such a lovely gift. :)
