Who says autumn/winter has to be boring & depressing all the time? Fall/Winter 2014 RTW is all about folklore, fantasies & culture. Designers challenged their creative juices and presented at the Paris, Milan, New York & London fashion weeks with their masterpieces. I was mesmerized not only by the clothes as well as the accessories. Of all the lovely collections, my top 6 favourites has got to be Dior, Valentino, Oscar de la renta, Chanel, Dolce & Gabbana & Altuzarra.
1.Valentino
Maria Grazia Chiuri & Pierpalo were inspired by unconventional artistes during the late 60's and early 70's who made changes in the Italian culture. Giosetta Fioroni is one of them. The collection for Fall/Winter 2014 is all about art & culture. Connecting dots, lace & flowers were prominent in the collection seen in coats to flirty girly dresses.

2. Dior
According to Raf Simons, Artistic Director for Christian Dior, the ready to wear (RTW) collection was all about the strength and power of the city silhouette together with the women who wears it. Raf Simons mixes colours with different fabrics & textures. Fuschia, blue, red & black are amongst the colours seen in the colour palette. Another unique creation worth mentioning are the 'dior shoes'. According to Raf Simons, 'dior shoes enhance the female silhouette, daring to combine colours with the most luxurious of materials'.

3. Altuzarra
Altuzarra is a luxury women's designer brand launched in New York in 2008 by Joseph Altuzarra. The inspiration behind the brand is influenced by the designer's multicultural upbringing and international education in fashion. RTW Fall/Winter 2014 collection is inspired by the designer's trip to Art Basel (Miami Beach). The collection is all about comfortable coats, bathrobes, sexy silhouettes, cashmere wrap coats & grey sheaths.

4. Chanel
Karl Lagerfield made grocery shopping seems so chic and stylish when he presented his RTW collection. Models were seen walking down the runway in baskets filled with groceries and chanel bags & coats. Who other than British supermodel Cara Delevingne, stole the show strutting her stuff and making grocery shopping seems so cool.
5. Dolce & Gabbana
The RTW collection was inspired by folklore and fantasies. Models were seen walking down the runway in oversized coats with printed fox,owl and squirrel motifs. This collection was influenced by the folk tale red riding hood.
6. Oscar de la Renta
Oscar Aristides Renta Fiallo known professionally as Oscar de la Renta was well known for his pretty, beautiful and girly pieces in the fashion world. His passing due to cancer in October 2014 was a great loss to many. This designer is well known for his one of a kind gowns often featured in the red carpet seen on celebrities. The RTW Fall/Winter collection featured colours like cobalt blue, coral, black and grey. Gowns were embellished with trimmings, suede & tweed were spotted as well. The overall collection was a beautiful one, resembling the designer's trademark.
That was my favourite top 6 designers for RTW Fall/Winter 2014.
Here are some of my favourite pieces that I've selected.
The essentials for fall/winter, a coat that keeps you warm and trendy at the same time, rugged gloves to keep the extremities warm, ankle boots to compliment the look & a unique handbag to make the look go 'pop'.
Of all seasons, autumn/winter is one that has the most character. You can show off your styling tips by playing mix & match which is always fun. :) Gloves these days can be funky & pretty. By adding embellishments or studs, a new look is created. I chose this pair of pretty light pink gloves from Prada to create a subtle yet edgy look. Animal prints never go out of date. Somehow or rather, it will appear in one of the seasons. It is often associated with luxe & power. However mixing different types of animal prints can make you look tacky & cheap. Minimal & simplicity are the best answers. Pairing a scarf to your coat is a wise idea, not only to keep you warm but it looks trendy at the same time. Who can forget the boots which adds character to the overall look. Boots come in a variety of lengths; from ankle to knee. I have a weakness for knee length boots. :) Not only does it elongates the legs, making the silhouette taller but also trimmer.
Here are my favourite accessories that I've chosen for the season.
These are worth mentioning and I must admit they are so cute and edgy. From Valentino to Kate Spade, Chanel, Fendi, Anya Hindmarch, Moschino, Dior & Mary Katrantzou.
Not forgetting the statement necklace that will make an outfit look different and glamorous. Ballet flats these days are the preferred choice for a comfortable and casual look. Recently, London Sole and Tokidoki came up with a limited edition collection for ballet flat lovers. I am one of them. :)
Here are some of my favourite looks for fall fashion.
Overall, fashion is all about style and individuality. Be bold, be daring and make a fashion statement. :)
